MedCost Software Hospital Outpatient
Vantage View and The Institute for Quality Resource Management have joined forces to bring you state-of-the-art software to help with your coding problems. Our software can be accessed either over the Internet or you may download a copy to use in one or more workstations. It is PC based and we house the main database. The program is called MedCost and will help provide guidance on APC coding for outpatient procedures; help determine if a patient encounter is outpatient or inpatient; provide you with C-codes for drugs and devices that are considered Pass-Through Items. The most recent coding edits have been included so that inappropriate coding combinations will be flagged. Modifiers are included and you will be cued as to when they should be used.

APC Impact Analysis
The new outpatient payment system has made changes regarding net outpatient revenue. By simply providing the codes to MedCost that you used prior to APC the system will let you know your gain or loss. Remember proper coding for 2000 and beyond requires looking at the entire patient encounter, not just department specific activities.

Physician CPT Coding
Our MedCost data base has been prepared to help physicians learn about coding for 2001, improper coding combinations, modifiers that may be used, what they can expect from Medicare and provides cues regarding possible ICD-9 codes that may be used with specific CPT code combinations.

Medicare Patient Population Fee Analysis
By simply entering the CPT codes you use, and the number of times that code has been (or will be) submitted you can determine on a monthly or annualized basis the amount of revenue to expect from Medicare reimbursement based upon your specific geographic area.
